SAP S/4HANA deployment wizard now also serving up Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

This blog focuses on an enhancement that was requested by many of our users and that we recently introduced in SAP Cloud Appliance Library: The installation of default or custom SAP S/4HANA stacks on Red Hat Enterprise Linux in Azure environments.

Starting in 2022, SAP Cloud Appliance Library is not onyl an entry point for provisioning preconfigured appliance templates for sandboxing scenarios but it also offers an easy way to install production systems from standard or custom SAP S/4HANA software stacks. As a result, it now takes you to an SAP S/4HANA system – with or without high availability – that follows a standard architecture and is consumable by SAP operational tools that are partly integrated into SAP Cloud Appliance Library.

The comprehensive wizard for this functionality is now also available for deployments on Red Hat Enterprise Linux in Azure environments. The wizard guides you through the input fields for all the relevant entries, starting with the selection or creation of an installation stack through to selecting the Azure resources and Red Hat operating system for the specific SAP S/4HANA set up. We currently support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.4.

The wizard triggers the installation process, which runs SAP Installation and the upgrade tools in an unattended mode. The management console allows you to monitor the deployment process and offers you an overview of system details, such as endpoints for accessibility, once the status of your system is running.

We are currently working on integrating more deeply with SAP S/4HANA migration procedures and other integrational topics. For more information see in our Roadmap.
