There are a lot of documents used on the Solution Documentation usually, time by time, some documents were out of date and user deleted them from the SOLDOC UI, but these orphan documents were still existed on the database since they were not really deleted from the database, if the user want to remove these orphan documents permanently ,they have to run the report ‘SOLMAN_UNUSED_72_DOCUMENTS’ to remove them.
Unfortunately many users don’t know the report to delete the orphan documents .
In SP13, there was a new functionality ‘Clean Unused Documents’ developed on the Web Dynpro UI , so the user can delete the orphan documents easily instead of run the report.
In SP15, multiple selection and sorting functionality were developed, so the user can select the orphan documents individually and do the sorting functionality on the column. So user can delete the orphan documents conveniently .
How to use the functionality?
1.Call transaction SOLADM to open the Solution Administration UI and click button Global Functions on the right corner.
2. Choose Service Activities.
3. Click link “Clean Unused Document”.
4. Check the Popup and do the needed operation
5. Check if the selected orphan documents can be deleted successfully
If selected orphan documents were more than 500 , it will schedule a background job to do the deletion to avoid the performance issue.
Besides using the report ‘SOLMAN_UNUSED_72_DOCUMENTS’ to delete the orphan documents, there is another way to delete the orphan documents from the Web Dynpro UI, this is convenient way for user to do the deletion who are not familiar with the report name.
