Dear community members,
At last year’s SAP TechEd, we announced our unified Low-Code/No-Code offering services on SAP Business Technology Platform as we continue to move forward with our mission to provide our customers and partners with a platform that serves as foundation for becoming an intelligent enterprise. We understand the challenges they face to stay agile, innovative, and competitive in a fast-changing market, and we enable them with an SAP centric environment to seamlessly bring their SAP and 3rd party solutions together to integrate their processes and derive value from data.
We’re very happy that Low-Code/No-Code is the spotlighted topic on SAP Community this month and can’t wait to share news and brand-new content with you! I’m kicking things off and will give you an overview of our main areas in my video below, and a sneak peek of the upcoming content further in this post – hope you enjoy!
Meet the Players
With low-code and no-code solutions we bridge the gap between business and IT to allow more users to quickly build enterprise-ready applications, automations, and digital experiences. As mentioned in the video, we have three main areas, which will be covered in more detail in the upcoming weeks:
SAP Process Automation combines the capabilities of SAP Workflow Management and SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation in an easy-to-use, no-code AI-powered experience. The creation of workflows and the automation of tasks and decisions is now simplified with visual drag-and-drop tools and pre-built industry- and LoB-specific content.
In the space of Application development, we offer two products that empower developers of any skill level to create and extend applications in a faster and more efficient way. SAP AppGyver is a no-code solution that can be used even by non-technical users, or as we call them: citizen developers, to create enterprise-scale web or mobile applications with pixel-perfect UIs without writing any code. Thanks to the no-code approach a whole new community of business experts are now empowered to deliver software too and make their day-to-day work better and more efficient.
But we know that sometimes it’s necessary to dive into code to solve complex business challenges end-to-end. SAP Business Application Studio is our product for professional developers. It builds on SAP technologies such as SAP Cloud Application Programming Model and SAP Mobile Services, and leverages products like SAP Fiori elements, SAPUI5, and SAP HANA among others. We can say it is traditional development environment with a big bonus: a new low-code experience that accelerates app composition. This means that developers always have the option between using new visual tools or diving into code, all of this maximizing their productivity.
Finally, where it all comes together is with the end user. The end user should be able to consume apps and processes from SAP and non-SAP solutions in a unified experience, without caring about the underlying complexity. With SAP Launchpad service, employees are provided with an intuitive, harmonized central point of access to everything they need to fulfil their daily work, such as services and applications.
SAP Work Zone expands the capabilities from SAP Launchpad service by allowing business and key users to build branded pages and workplaces to connect specific communities to business data and offering content packages and templates for specific industries and lines of business.

With short and fun units with both theory and practice, you learn the core concepts of low-code and no-code technologies and get to create your very first no-code application with SAP AppGyver. Get started now and stay tuned for more coming soon!
What’s next for SAP Community Spotlight
We are equally excited to share new and exciting blog posts, videos, and learning content around these areas, and we want to make sure you have enough time to take advantage of everything. Therefore, we’ll feature one LCNC area per week – first application development (May 9-13), then process automation (May 16-20), and digital experience (May 23-27).
We love to hear your thoughts, questions, and feedback, so never hesitate to reach out.
