Frequently Asked Questions around the Localization Toolkit for SAP S/4HANA Cloud

To supplement the previously published frequently asked questions related to the localization toolkit, we compiled a list of additional topics.

Can I create a new local version?
As of today, it is not possible to create a new localization. The Central Business Configuration is one other vital component of the toolkit that is currently in planning and aims to enable the creation of a new local version. The creation of a new localization will be possible once the specific feature in the Central Business Configuration is generally available. The toolkit with its varied features addresses scenarios to complement starter packs as well as the last mile in existing localizations and continues to provide expert guidance on several localization areas.

Which local versions can be created using the toolkit? Can I create a localization for Morocco, for example?
If a localization can be built once the feature of creating new local version is available within the Central Business Configuration depends on the following factors:

– Legal requirements of the country/region
– Customer implementation scope for the country/region
Capabilities of the toolkit

It will be possible to create a new local version if the legal requirements applicable to the implementation scope match the capabilities of the toolkit.

Are there partner engagements related to the toolkit?
Yes, we are engaging with S/4HANA Cloud implementation partners to understand how we can best support you and further increase our offering. We encourage you to provide feedback or address questions and to request support during your localization implementations.

What is the partner enablement plan for this year around the toolkit?
We have conducted a webinar in collaboration with PartnerEdge on March 23rd, 2020. You can listen to the recording here.
Furthermore, we will also add enablement assets for the localization toolkit components in the coming months, including the Central Business Configuration. Will the partners/customers be supported during the implementation of a last-mile localization or starter pack?
Yes, we can support you while you are extending existing localizations (last-mile localization) or implementing starter packs. What is the process for partners to publish a blog with a code snippet on the community page for the localization toolkit?
If you would like us to include your blog in our expert content section we need to validate the scenario and code snippet. Publishing the blog as part of our expert content would offer a reach into our community and could help to position your expertise with customers.

Who owns the intellectual property for localization extensions?
Since the extension is built as part of an implementation project the customer owns the IP unless otherwise agreed with their implementation partner.

Are there any additions to the starter pack versions?
The list of starter packs planned for 2005 and 2008 is available in the Innovation Discovery.

Do you provide guidance for implementing starter packs?
It is essential to check for applicable legal requirements; one of our blogs provides further insights into addressing legal requirements for starter packs. The EASTR model can be used to analyze requirements for localizations and starter packs before the start of implementation.
