With tools like SAP Data Intelligence, this is no longer required. Most current data must be, because of its size or nature, and is being processed in situ with only results being propagated with technologies like map reduce.
With SAP Data Intelligence, SAP embarked the world of containerization and data lakes, and I am sure there will be more solutions to follow:
